An auspicious event unfolded at the Karachi Press Club last Saturday as an inauguration ceremony was held for the distribution of site plans in the journalist colony Block 68’s flats. The ceremony saw addresses from President Saeed Sarbazi, Director-General of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Shabih-ul-Hasan, and Secretary of Karachi Press Club Shoaib Ahmed.
President Saeed Sarbazi highlighted the pivotal role played by the KDA, in collaboration with the Chief Minister, Ministers of Local Government and Information, in resolving phased transactions, thereby fostering the welfare and prosperity of the members. He expressed optimism for future developmental projects aimed at further enhancing the well-being of the residents.
Following the allocation of site plans, the next phase of leasing has commenced, indicating the completion of preparations. Shabih-ul-Hasan, DG of KDA, assured that all necessary arrangements are in place for this process. Discussions were also held with the Ministers of Local Government regarding the developmental projects for Karachi Press Club’s journalist colonies, with PC-1 prepared and awaiting approval for boundary wall construction.
Secretary Shoaib Ahmed addressed the challenges faced by Scheme 42’s Press Colony due to encroachments and commended President Sarbazi’s leadership in addressing these issues. He acknowledged the cooperation of the Ministers and DG KDA in resolving transactional matters and ensuring accurate identification of Block 68’s location.
Last year, the availability of staff from KDA and LDA at the Press Club facilitated smoother transactions, marking the beginning of a renewed commitment to developmental initiatives.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Vice President Abdul Rashid Memon, Secretary of the Plot Committee Shams Kerio, Joint Secretary Muhammad Mansoor, former President Tahir Hasan Khan, former Secretary and Member of the Permanent Plot Committee Maqsood Yusufi, former Secretary Amir Latif, members of the governing body, and a large number of residents from Block 68 Press Colony.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of site plans by President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, and DG KDA Shabih-ul-Hasan. Additionally, the Sindhi Ajrak was presented to the DG KDA as a token of appreciation by the President and Secretary of Karachi Press Club.
This ceremony not only marks a milestone in the developmental journey of Block 68 but also reflects collaborative efforts towards the betterment of journalistic communities in Karachi. With promising projects underway and continued support from governmental authorities, the future looks bright for Press Colony residents.
