The Sindh Minister for Women’s Development, Shahina Sher Ali, announced the establishment of a daycare center at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) to alleviate challenges faced by its female members. She emphasized that the government is committed to promoting women’s welfare, enabling them to progress in every field without fear.
During her visit to the Karachi Press Club on Thursday, Shahina Sher Ali congratulated the newly elected officials, including President Fazil Jamili, Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, Vice President Irshad Khokhar, and Governing Body Members Hafeez Baloch and Mona Siddiqui.
Minister Shahina Sher Ali highlighted the challenges faced by working women and shared the government’s proactive measures, including daycare centers already operational at Karachi University and other institutions. She announced plans to extend this facility to the Press Club, ensuring women journalists can focus on their work without concerns for their children.
The minister also addressed the plight of women in prisons, stating that the government is providing legal assistance to those imprisoned due to mistakes or legal complexities. She revealed plans to establish daycare centers in prisons for mothers with young children and schools to ensure uninterrupted education for these children, in collaboration with the Education Department.
For women residing in shelters (Dar-ul-Aman), vocational courses are being offered to help them achieve financial independence. Additionally, the government is planning to introduce a “Pink Taxi” service, ensuring safe and empowering transportation options for women.
Minister Shahina Sher Ali reaffirmed the Sindh government’s dedication to enhancing women’s lives through progressive policies and initiatives, striving for a future where women can thrive fearlessly in all aspects of life.
