Karachi Press Club Secretary Shoaib Ahmed met Federal Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Shaheera Shahid in her office in Islamabad. Informed about the steps to be taken, there was a detailed discussion about the problems of media workers dismissed from various institutions including Bol TV and Dunya newspaper and late payment of salaries and non-payment of dues in various media institutions. Secretary Karachi Press Club urged ITNE and PEMRA to play their role and formulate a comprehensive policy to make government advertisements conditional on the payment of salaries in media institutions, formulate a health policy for the treatment of sick and unemployed journalists and Demanded allocation of annual grants for Press Club. Ms. Shaheera Shahid assured to make the role of the Ministry of Information more effective on the problems faced by the journalists and to take notice of the complaints related to the media organizations.
