In a significant move towards the development of the Journalist Colony in Hawksbay Block 68, LDA Scheme 42, the Karachi Press Club (KPC) organized a site plan distribution ceremony. The event saw the participation of KPC President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, DG LDA Safdar Ali Bughio, LDA Secretary Syed Shabih ul Hassan, Plot Committee Secretary Shams Kerio, LDA Director of Land Zeeshan Ahmed, along with governing body members, senior members, and allottees of Block 68.
During his address, DG Lyari Development Authority (LDA) Safdar Ali Bughio emphasized the historical significance of the Karachi Press Club and its pivotal role in advocating for journalists’ rights and press freedom. He reiterated their commitment to expediting development projects and providing essential facilities to ensure the swift settlement of the journalist colonies. Bughio mentioned ongoing coordination with the Minister of Local Government to integrate all development schemes of the journalist colony into the annual development program.
Last year, LDA allocated 125 acres of land for 700 plots, each measuring 400 square yards, to accommodate the new KPC members. DG LDA assured that these plots would be made available to KPC soon. He praised the current KPC leadership for effectively managing the plot allocation process and pledged full support from his team to facilitate KPC members and allottees.
KPC President Saeed Sarbazi and Secretary Shoaib Ahmed expressed their gratitude to DG LDA Safdar Ali Bughio and Secretary Syed Shabih ul Hassan for their unwavering cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to overcoming all obstacles to ensure members can build their homes with all necessary amenities. President Sarbazi thanked DG LDA for the provision of land for 700 members.
Before the conclusion, KPC Secretary provided DG LDA with a detailed briefing on the Journalist Colony’s affairs and acknowledged the support from LDA officials. The ceremony concluded with KPC President and Secretary presenting a traditional Ajrak to DG LDA and distributing site plans among the allottees.
