The Karachi Press Club held a memorial event at IH Burney Hall to pay tribute to the late Professor Zakaria Sajid, former head of the Department of Mass Communication at Karachi University. The event was attended by a large number of his former students and colleagues, including notable figures like Professor Tahir Masood, Professor Salim Mughal, Professor Tauseef Ahmed, and Chief Editor of Ummat Nasir Hashmi.

The memorial, presided over by Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi, highlighted Professor Sajid’s immense contributions to education, his nurturing relationship with students, and his role as both a mentor and teacher. His daughters, Tasneem Maryam and Qurat-ul-Ain Abid, also participated in the event.

Speakers praised Professor Zakaria Sajid not only for his academic excellence but also for his genuine care for students, often helping them find employment and resolve personal issues. Despite graduating, many of his students remained in contact with him, testifying to his lasting influence. His commitment to his students was held up as a model for future educators.

The event concluded with prayers for the late professor’s soul, with attendees reflecting on his legacy as a teacher who continues to inspire generations.
