In a recent visit to the Karachi Press Club, Director General of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Syed Shujaat Hussain, praised the significant role of journalists in society. He emphasized that journalists are a reflection of every civilized society and commended the journalists of Karachi for their talent and dedication, especially under challenging circumstances.
During his meeting with the Karachi Press Club body on Friday, Hussain expressed his long-standing relationship with the journalist community and acknowledged their struggles. He highlighted the importance of the Karachi Press Club in giving a voice to oppressed groups and assured ongoing support and collaboration with the institution.
The meeting was attended by notable members of the Press Club, including President Saeed Sarbazi and Secretary Shoaib Ahmed Khan, who welcomed Hussain. Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif, governing body members Shoaib Ahmed, Tahir Siddiqui, Mansoor Sheikh, Suhail Rab, Faisal Khan, Abdul Jabbar Nasir, and Mona Siddiqui were also present.
President Saeed Sarbazi and Secretary Shoaib Khan highlighted the Karachi Press Club’s crucial role in advocating for press freedom and democracy. They noted that despite difficult circumstances, journalists continue to perform their duties diligently. The Club has not only contributed to the progress and development of Karachi but has also played a significant role in strengthening democratic institutions across the country.
Hussain reiterated his admiration for journalism, stating that his positive relationship with journalists stems from his appreciation of their vital role in society. He acknowledged their efforts in highlighting all aspects of societal conditions, both good and bad. He assured the attendees of his awareness of the issues faced by journalists and praised the Karachi Press Club for its exemplary role in democracy and journalist welfare.
As a token of appreciation, the President and Secretary of the Karachi Press Club presented Hussain with the traditional Sindhi Ajrak.
