The issue of Kashmir remains one of the most contentious and unresolved conflicts in the world. Recently, key figures in the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other leaders gathered in Karachi, hosted by the Karachi Press Club, to discuss the future of Kashmir and emphasize the importance of respecting the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi, the convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, stated unequivocally that any solution to the Kashmir conflict must align with the desires of the Kashmiri people. He emphasized the necessity of a referendum, conducted under the auspices of the United Nations, to determine the true will of the Kashmiris.

Shoib Ahmed, Secretary of the Karachi Press Club, expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir. He highlighted the deep connection between the people of Pakistan and those in Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle for freedom. He also condemned the silence of the international community on the human rights violations occurring in Kashmir.

The Karachi Press Club, along with the journalist community, stands firmly with the Kashmiri people in their fight for justice. By leveraging their platforms, journalists aim to bring global attention to the atrocities taking place in Kashmir and urge the international conscience to take action.

Safi pointed out the severe oppression faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule, mentioning that leaders like Yasin Malik and Asiya Andrabi are enduring harsh conditions in prison. The Kashmiri youth, inspired by figures such as Burhan Muzaffar Wani, continue to resist, despite facing brutal repression.

The solution to the Kashmir issue lies in respecting the aspirations of its people. The leaders reiterated that the international community, especially human rights organizations, must intervene to end the suffering in Kashmir. The fight for Kashmir’s freedom is not just a regional issue but a global human rights concern that requires immediate and just resolution.

In the words of Shoib Ahmed, “For peace in the region, the resolution of the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people is essential.” The global community must heed this call and work towards a peaceful and fair solution.
