In a significant development, Karachi Press Club (KPC) and Liaquat National Hospital have agreed to collaborate on providing improved and affordable healthcare services for journalists and their families.

During a visit to KPC, Dr. Salman Faridi, Medical Director of Liaquat National Hospital, announced plans to offer subsidized treatments, organize expert-led medical camps, and conduct certified courses for health reporters. He also emphasized the availability of specialist doctors at the press club in the near future.

Dr. Faridi recalled his student days visiting KPC and praised the institution as a symbol of press freedom and democracy, describing journalism as the fourth pillar of the state. He stressed the need for credible journalism, especially in the age of misinformation on social media, and called for empowering the public through truth.

KPC President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan welcomed Dr. Faridi and appreciated Liaquat National’s willingness to support the media community. They highlighted that journalist welfare remains a top priority, with increasing focus on healthcare and basic facilities.

KPC officials also noted that many journalists face delays in salaries and benefits, further underscoring the need for health support initiatives. This partnership aims to bridge that gap and ensure well-being for those who serve the cause of truth and democracy.
