The Modi government is conspiring to convert Kashmiris from majority to minority by settling more than 1.2 million Indian citizens in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In such a situation, what will be the outcome if there is a vote for the right to self-determination? These views were expressed by former President Supreme Court Bar Association and senior advocate Yasin Azad Advocate while addressing a seminar held at Karachi Press Club in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day on Monday. Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Karachi Press Club Shoaib Ahmed, Senior Journalist Secretary General Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists AH Khanzada, Senior Journalist and Editor Saeed Khawar, Writer and Expert on Kashmir Bashir Sadozai, Political and Social Kashmiri Leader Sardar Babar Abbasi, In-charge Bilawal House Media Cell and Kashmiri Leader Sardar Nazakat, Ameer Sindh Zone Jamaat-e-Islami for Kashmir Sardar Hameed were present on the occasion. also expressed his views, Yasin Azad said that Kashmir issue is a very important issue which has completely changed after the abolition of Article 370, in the current situation we cannot get Kashmir through war, the atrocities committed in Kashmir in the last 76 years should be taken to the International Court of Justice, in the United Nations, the right to self-determination.
If Kashmiris want to stay with Pakistan or want to remain independent, we are acceptable in both cases. It is very sad that we divided Pakistan into two parts, if Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had been given power, Pakistan would not have been destroyed, even today we have to learn from the past and think beyond emotions because the country which has a debt of 25 thousand trillion cannot fight the war. Even today, the legislative process is nowhere to be seen in the assemblies regarding Kashmir, the right direction for Kashmir has to be determined. He further said that the Indian government has settled more than 1.2 million Indian citizens in Jammu and Kashmir, now after that there will be a referendum for the right to self-determination, then the result will be very terrible. Therefore, all political parties of Pakistan will have to come on one page so that the Kashmir issue can be resolved unanimously. Bashir Sadozai said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are very oppressed, we are grateful to the Karachi Press Club for raising their voice for their freedom, for 35 years we have been expressing solidarity for Kashmir, but we should review our policies because our struggle has not yet yielded remarkable results and the influential class should suggest a new narrative of Kashmiris.
Sardar Babar said in his address that the massacre of Kashmiris is going on, we have to take concrete steps against India’s aggressive policies, and otherwise India’s oppressive continuation will continue on a permanent basis. Sardar Nazakat said that the Kashmir cause was damaged when the freedom movement of Kashmir was given a religious colour. People from all religions in Kashmir were involved in this movement. Sardar Hameed said in his address that the voice raised from the Karachi Press Club is heard all over the world, Pakistan came into existence on the basis of two-nation theory and on this basis Kashmir was to be merged with Pakistan. Secretary PFUJAH Khanzada said that Kashmir struggle is a case of Kashmir, but Pakistan has always performed the duty of being a backer, there has been negligence but there is no need to create a new narrative of Kashmir, India is a usurper, liar and rogue robber and this announcement is danda, the issue of Kashmir is not with us even yesterday and is against us even today.
On this occasion, a six-point resolution was adopted in the seminar, in which it was demanded that all the resolutions passed by the United Nations regarding the issue of Jammu and Kashmir should be implemented and Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination so that they can decide on their own will. The cruel and oppressive decision of giving 9 million Kashmiris under Indian occupation should be withdrawn and the status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir should be restored on August 14, 2019. The resolution further demanded that the Government of India, including leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Asiya Andrabi, should be arrested. The CS leaders should be released and the false cases against thousands of Kashmiri youth lodged in Indian jails should be dropped and released immediately. The participants of the seminar paid tribute to thousands of Kashmiri martyrs including Maqbool Butt Shaheed Burhan Wani Shaheed, Ashraf Sehrai, Late Syed Ali Shah Geelani and all Kashmiri mothers, sisters and daughters as they showed bravery and perseverance against Indian aggression and are still engaged in the struggle of Azad Kashmir.
The participants strongly condemned the false cases and torture of media workers who exposed Indian aggression and humanitarian atrocities and demanded their release.
