On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Karachi Press Club organized the Karachi Press Club Excellence Award ceremony for women who have shown outstanding performance in various fields of life.

Awards were given to women who have excelled in journalism, arts and literature, health and education, sports, information technology, social work, poetry, corporate, public relations, chefs and other fields. Director General Press Information Department Iram Tanvir, Head of Marketing Habib Oil Tabanda Lari, Senior Journalist and Poet Nasira Zubairi, Founder of Catalyst Lab Jahan Ara, Additional Secretary Education Shireen Narejo, Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, Governing Body Members Mona Siddiqui and Shazia Hassan, Noor Muhammad Kalhoro, Shoaib Ahmed, Rana Javed, Shams Carew, Senior Journalist Mazhar Abbas, Ashraf Khan, Naseer Ahmed Club members including Khan attended in large numbers. Speaking on the occasion, Iram Tanvir said that Karachi press club’s recognition of the services of women is commendable. “When I joined the bureaucracy in 2002, there were still three or four women, now I feel happy to see women playing an active role in different fields. Despite this, injustice has been done to women for a long time, women still do not get a share in inheritance. They also have to fight for their rights. He said that if women get decision-making powers, they can help other women better and make good decisions. He said that it is very important for women to be educated. Laws make women stronger. Tabanda Lari said that women’s rights are the common rights of one family and society, women’s freedom and development are in education, employment and fulfilling social, moral and joint responsibilities. Nasira Zubairi said that a lot of work needs to be done to protect the rights of women in the society. Women are half the population of the society, they should realize their power. Jahan Ara said that in many families, women do not get the help of the men of their family in education and development, yet they go ahead. Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi said that as long as democratic culture and democracy are not followed in the state.

Women’s rights and other human rights in the society will continue to be affected and the biggest problem is to follow the laws related to women’s rights in the country and the province. Karachi Press Club Secretary Shoaib Ahmed said that there is an urgent need to advance their respect and respect while talking about women’s rights, Karachi Press Club has always protected the rights of women and highlighted the work of women who have made significant contributions in various fields. And the club is playing a significant role in the welfare of women members. The awardees include Manza Siddiqui, Nazia Amir, Misbah Leghari, Razia Sultana, Humaira Taher, Shahr Bano Murtaza, Sadia Obaidullah, Fauzia Shaheen and Humaira Banu Musa. Arts and Literature Awards were given to Khadija Mastoor, Naheed Sultan, Shaheen Gul and Shehla Mahmood. Shabana Shafique, Fawzia Khan, Rafia Mallah, Prof Shamim Naz Masood, Dr Rifat Sultan, Rafia Taj and Yasmin Farooqui were the recipients of the Health and Education Awards. Fatima Sana, Qudsia Raja, Fatima Zahra, Safina Khan and Fatima Irfan were awarded in the field of sports. Awards were given to Mrs. Jahan Ara and Khadija Mahmood Shahid for social media/IT. Ruth Pfau Social Work Award Alia Sarem Burney, Mehnaz Rahman, Queen Khan, Nuzhat Shireen, Masrat Misbah, Sabiha Shah, Naseem Sheikh and Simreen Ahmed, Fatima Hassan, Hamabeg and Nasira Zubairi in the field of poetry, Corporate/Public Relations Award Sadia Dada, Hiba Moin, Farwa Hasan, Dr Sana Ghauri, Sara Farhan in the chef’s department and JPMC Deputy Director Dr Nausheen were given the awards. At the end of the event, a theatre play was also presented on the occasion of Women’s Day.
