Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Mehmet Pacaci on Thursday said that Pakistan and Turkiye are determined to boost the annual bilateral trade from current $ 1 billion to $ 5 billion in next three years because the existing bilateral trade volume does not reflect the true potential of both the Muslim states.
Dr. Mehmet Pacaci was talking to media in “Meet the Press” at the Karachi Press Club here.
Earlier, the visiting Turkish Ambassador and other guests were accorded a very warm welcome by the President KPC Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary KPC Shoaib Ahmed Khan, along with the members Governing Body and other notables.
The Turkish Ambassador and his team visited different sections of the Karachi Press Club, where they were briefed by the President and Secretary of KPC with regard to the facilities being extended to the members of the Press Club, which were extolled by Dr. Mehmet Pacaci.
He said that with the common vision of the leadership of both sides, we have laid a strong foundation of ties between the two sides and we are eager to further enhance relations in trade, education, culture and other sectors.
He said also shed light on the historical background of the Turkish nation and called for the need to further study it by the academia in Pakistan and Turkiye.
He said that we can never forget the support of the Muslims of this land “Asia” through Khilafat Movement to support the then Khalifa in Istanbul.
Speaking about the political relations of Pakistan and Turkey, he remarked the our political bond is around 77 years old that started with the establishment of Pakistan in 1947.
He said that Pakistan and Turkiye support each other’s stance on numerous issues at various international forums. We also agree with Pakistan’s position regarding peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute through dialogue and that the right of self-determination be granted to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
He also recalled that a 80-member team from Pakistan participated in rescue and relief work in the time of 2023 earthquake in Turkiye, which shows the commitment and relations between the two countries. At the time of earthquake in Turkiye the people of Pakistan also collected donations and dispatched relief goods to his country, he added.
Earlier, in his address, President KPC Saeed Sarbazi highly appreciated the role played by Dr. Mehmet Pacaci to further strengthen the ties between the two Muslim countries and expressed gratitude to him for sparing precious time to visit the Press Club.
On the occasion, Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Mehmet Pacaci and Turkish Consul General in Karachi Cemal Sangu were presented the traditional gifts of Sindhi Topi and Ajarak by President KPC Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary KPC Shoaib Ahmed and members of the Governing Body.
