The Karachi Press Club (KPC) held a dignified ceremony to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, attended by Sindh Government spokesperson Sukhdev Hemnani as the chief guest, along with KPC office-bearers, journalists, members and their families.
The ceremony featured flag hoisting, cake cutting and the national anthem.
Addressing the gathering, Sukhdev Hemnani highlighted Pakistan’s diversity of cultures, languages and communities, stressing the importance of national unity, responsible journalism and democratic values. He also paid tribute to the Karachi Press Club’s role in promoting press freedom and highlighting public issues.
KPC President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Aslam Khan emphasized the sacrifices behind Pakistan’s independence and reaffirmed the journalist community’s commitment to freedom of expression, democracy and the supremacy of the Constitution.
The ceremony concluded with Pakistan Zindabad slogans and a special prayer for the country’s peace, prosperity, security and progress.
