
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail inaugurated the free medical camp set up by Dr Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre in collaboration with the CPLC for the members at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday.
Different tests including HIV, BMD, RBS, Eye checkup, OPD, Dental checkup, Physiotherapy checkup were available for members of the KPC. Governor Sindh visited the stalls and appreciated the setting up of free medical camp.
Earlier, the governor Sindh was accorded a warm welcome by the President Imtiaz Khan Faran, Secretary Arman Sabir and other members of the Karachi Press Club. The governor was presented the bouquet on his arrival.
Governor Sindh was apprised of the problems being faced by journalists and particularly members of the Karachi Press Club. He was asked to initiate free housing scheme project for members. He was also asked to play his role in getting resolved the matter of encroachment on more than 200 plots in Block-2, of KPC Housing Scheme, Hawksbay.
During the meeting, Secretary Arman Sabir informed the governor that the federal government gave the KPC grant of more than 10 million rupees long ago during the PPP tenure when Hafeez Shaikh was finance minister. He said that the KPC expect the resumption of the grant by the federal government.
The members of the KPC benefited from the free medical camp and they availed the facility at their doorstep. Prof Dr Farhan Essa has been setting up free medical camps for the past many years . He said that the collaboration with the KPC will strengthen in the days to come. Last week, the Dr Essa Laboratory and Diagnostic Centre conducted an awareness seminar on World Diabetes Day at the KPC and offered free tests for diabetes.
Governor Sindh was told that his decision to appoint Murad Soni as Deputy Chief of the CPLC was appreciable and timely. The governor was informed that Murad Soni has a good track record in the CPLC and would play his role in making its performance better. Murad Soni vowed that he would play his role in progressing the CPLC.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor Sindh assured the KPC members that he would ask the Prime Minister to issue grant to the Karachi Press Club. He also assured that he would soon convene all stake holders to find a practical solution to the encroachment on a piece of land on the plots of journalists in Hawksbay Scheme.
