Karachi Press Club Journalist Colony Development Progress: Special Meeting for Allottees

A special meeting, presided over by Saeed Sarbazi, President of the Karachi Press Club, was held to discuss the ongoing development and settlement efforts in the Journalist Housing Scheme at Hawksbay. This meeting specifically addressed the allottees of Blocks 2, 3, 3A, and 3A-1, including those constructing their homes in these areas.

In the meeting, Saeed Sarbazi, along with Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, provided key updates regarding the progress of development in the Journalist Colony. These updates included:

  • Progress in the incomplete work related to the 6,000-acre lease from LDA.
  • Establishment of a separate account for the Karachi Press Club Housing Society in LDA.
  • Construction of a police checkpoint.
  • Clearing of forest areas in all blocks, and cleaning of Journalist Park in Block 3A.
  • Improvement of access routes and the water and sewage system in Blocks 2 and 3A.
  • Initiating a one-window operation for site plans and weekly visits from LDA representatives.
  • LDA reminders to related departments for boundary wall construction and ongoing development.

To facilitate the involvement of allottees, especially those currently constructing their homes, subcommittees have been formed under the supervision of the Karachi Press Club. These committees will help in monitoring and managing various aspects of the colony’s development:

  1. Rabia Rehman Mosque Committee – Led by Ahmed Hassan, Ahmed Malik (existing 8-member committee)
  2. Internal Security Committee – Fida Abbasi, Nizam Siddiqui, Adil Zafar
  3. Journalist Park Supervision Committee – Aqeel Rana, Arbab Chandio, Muhammad Farooq
  4. Water Tanker Supply Committee – Adil Zafar
  5. Anti-Encroachment Committee – Shahid Iqbal, Fida Abbasi, Arbab Chandio, Aqeel Rana
  6. Development Work Monitoring Committee – Ahmed Malik, Arbab Chandio, Shahid Iqbal, Nizam Siddiqui, Adil Zafar, Akhtar Soomro, Ejaz Sheikh, Akram Khan
  7. Community Development Committee – Gul Nasreen, Meraj Fatima, Sabeen Agha, Mrs. Nizam Siddiqui, Mrs. Adil Zafar

Further members may be added to these committees with the advice of their respective heads. The committees will coordinate with LDA officials to ensure smooth operations and efficient completion of their tasks.
