The drive to vaccinate children against typhoid is in full swing in Sindh. Keeping in view the national campaign, the Karachi Press Club organized a camp in this respect on Saturday on its premises to facilitate its members and their children.

Secretary to Sindh Health Department Zahid Ali Abbasi inaugurated the camp and said that the Sindh government had a target to vaccinate ten million children across the province. He said that it was difficult to vaccinate non-school going children as they got panicked when they were injected. However, the government would hopefully complete the task.

Secretary health was accompanied by Head of the NICH Dr Jamal Nasir, EPI Sindh Chief Dr Akram Sultan, Dr Sohail bin Saeed, Dr Ayaz Soomro, President KPC Imtiaz Khan Faran and others.

He said while talking to newsmen that four million children had been vaccinated so far and there was no complaint that any child got ill seriously due to vaccination. He said that auto-lock syringes were being used during the campaign so that those syringes could not be used twice.

Head of the National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Dr Jamal Raza said that according to statistics he received stated that almost forty to fifty thousands children had been affected by the typhoid.

The guests were presented traditional Ajrak by the KPC President Imtiaz Khan Faran, KPC Health Committee Secretary Waqar Bhatti, Hamidur Rahman Awan, and other members.
